So far the Arc of Justice has proven to be an interesting read. I did want to make a comment about something that occurred to me during one of the guided discussions and a re-read of a few chapters.
Ossian's pride seems to me a double edged sword. On one hand, it gives him the fortitude that he needs to be as successful as he can be in Detroit in the 1920s. He manages to make all the right connections, join the right organizations, and acquire a place of respect. On the other hand, it also seems to keep him from fully committing to standing up to the inevitable conflicts he will face as result of his skin color. It makes me wonder if he somehow believes that all that he has attained will insulate him in some way. Just a thought. Any comments?
